First Annual Chain-Link Art Exhibit and Competition at the Farmers Market
JOSHUA TREE, CA--It’s everywhere you look. . . and ugly! What is it? Chain-Link fencing, and your creative flair could win you $250.00 CASH if you enter your masterpiece into the “FIRST ANNUAL CHAIN-LINK ART EXHIBIT” in the Hi-Desert on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at the Joshua Tree Farmer’s Market. Additional cash prizes will also be awarded for runner-ups.
Think of the possibilities! Paint it! Weave it! Decorate it! Hang things on it! Give it a “theme!” Give it a “make-over!” Give Chain-Link a chance! Entry fee for this great Labor Day weekend event is only $25.00, and anyone can enter on line at www.hidesertculturalcenter.com or by calling 760.366.3777 by August 28, 2010. Judging will occur during Farmer’s Market hours between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon by the attending public. Winners will be announced at 1:00 p.m. Vote counts will be determined by $1.00 voter ticket submissions by all in attendance.
Entries are limited to any submission of Chain-Link art no larger than the dimensions of 4 ft. high by 4 ft. wide by 4 ft. in girth. Entries must be self standing (cinder blocks work great) and must be wind resistant. Entries will be displayed down the center corridor of the Joshua Tree Farmer’s Market for all to view, which is located on Highway 62 at Tortoise Island.
So, if you have a Chain-Link fenced yard with a gate (borrow your gate!) or simply a section of fencing, register today! Proceeds will directly benefit the Hi-Desert Cultural Center, a 501c.3 non-profit organization (who also has Chain-Link fencing on its property!). |

In a first-of-its-kind concert performance at the legendary Strathmore Music Center in Bethesda, Maryland, concert goers will see and hear history in the making. With Radnich, touted as one of this nation’s most promising up-and- coming composers and pianists, performing from Joshua Tree’s Blak Box Theatre, the team will be the featured performers at this world-class event.
With two Yamaha Disklavier grand pianos connected to each other over the Internet, Radnich’s keystrokes and foot peddling in Joshua Tree are faithfully reproduced live on the grand piano at the Strathmore, with every nuance of Radnich’s performance perfectly duplicated on the remote piano. “It’s literally as if his fingers and feet travel through space from Joshua Tree to Bethesda. There is no difference in the two live performances the audiences experience, even though they are separated by thousands of miles. Each audience hears exactly the same music coming from the grand piano at their venue,” explains Knudsen... MORE INFO |
